Neighborhood Alert

September 21, 2006: A young lady has reported that she was accosted on West Roxboro by a man in a white Ford Mustang who exposed himself. We are alerting our security policeman concerning the incident, and we advise anyone caught up in this type of situation to call 911 immediately.

Mailbox Crime Alert Update

There is concern over paperwork stolen from mailboxes and unlocked cars. It is currently related primarily to identity theft, where the thieves are looking for social security and bank account numbers. This is a federal crime.

We recommend four things:

1. Do not leave mail in your box any longer than you have to,

2. If you are going out of town get that yellow card from the post office and stop mail delivery OR get a neighbor to get your mail,

3. Take all OUTBOUND mail containing checks directly to the post office, and

4. Use direct deposit to your bank account whenever possible (social security checks, IRS rebates, etc.)

These incidents are reported to other neighborhood security groups at the May Zone Two Citizens Committee meeting.
